This 3.5 review was originally posted on Latte Nights Reviews on August 7, 2015.

I had previously read and enjoyed Play of Light by Debra Doxer and when I saw that she was releasing another book with "revenge" as the theme, I knew I had to read it. I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't much of revenge involved in the story, only two or three settings and that was about it so why did I give it 3.5 stars? Let's begin!

The story has an original feel to it. At least, I haven't read anything like this so I'm judging by what I have read. This story is packed with romance, mystery, a dash of suspense and action, and drama. I wasn't sure if I would like Candy when I first started the story. She seemed shallow at times and annoying but I kept reading. Our MC is someone who I considered to be bad-ass. She wouldn't take shit from anyone and would stand up for herself and for the people she cared about. I still wasn't sure if I liked her or not but I was waiting to see what would happen next. We meet Jonah who is totally swoon-worthy. Right from the start, he has this mysterious vibe to him and he is a very complex character but the reader will totally like him. I was in love with his complexity and how he viewed things.

The first part of the story was set in a kind of slow pace but it soon starts to pick up. One of the characters almost dies and clues keep appearing left and right and that's when the suspense starts creeping in. I was blindfolded until the end. I couldn't believe that plot twist that the author threw in the story. Then I'm just sitting there like WTF just happened and when can I have the second book. I'm highly looking forward to Sweet Liar so my millions of questions can get answers and read more of Jonah and Candy and hopefully get more revenge in the second installment :)
