The Girl with the Rainbow Heart is extremely short and it took me maybe 5 minutes to read it. It centers around a girl named Blue and the fact that she is ridiculed and called names by her fellow classmates because of her sexuality. I can’t say it was the most empowering LGBT story I’ve read or the most well written, but I liked it nevertheless. I would have loved for this to have been a full length story though because I think Blue would make a great main character, but as it is all we get is the girl with the tough exterior. It would have benefited greatly from a longer word count, but I appreciate it for what it is.
