Captain Marvel Volume 2: Stay Fly

Captain Marvel is one of my favorite superheroes, mostly because of her personality. She’s tough, likes to punch things, and has an awesome sense of humor. However I find myself sort of stalling out on this series and the overall story.

The first volume was full of awesome promises like show offs with J’son in order to protect people on planets he’s interested in, and space battles. But I feel like it really slowed down in favor of more silly fun…and while that’s great, it’s also a bit boring. Carol is still amazing through out all of it, and I liked her sarcastic wit and ill placed goofiness…but I also feel like her badass talents were a bit squandered. I liked having the Guardians of Galaxy involved and it really made it more entertaining, and despite the goofiness of the whole storyline Chewbacca the “Cat” (*cough* Flerkin *cough*) was pretty funny and having Rocket constantly tinkered with Carol’s ship as fun.

In most ways this series is more of an exploration of her character and personality, and not so much of space itself.

I enjoyed it, but I think I’m with the others when I say I’m ready for her to head back to Earth for a bit
