Summer lovin' had me a blast
Summer lovin' happened so fast.
Oh yeah, we've all been there, haven't we? Lord knows I have.
Warning: I'm such a HUGE fan of Kate Canterbary's writing and I often refer to her as my "author spirit animal" mainly because her style and tone, sits just right with me.
What happens when an author you love writes a book in a genre you don't read as much as her others? Well, you cross your fingers and hope you love it just as much as the others. I'm pretty sure that Ms. Canterbary could write furniture construction instructions and I'd want a signed copy of those too.
M/M romance is not a sub-genre I read a lot of but it's a genre I've tried to read more of because it's truly an incredible sub-genre to read. It doesn't seem to be so bogged down with trite and overused tropes.
Canterbary always manages to get into the head of a character and share their inner thoughts and vulnerabilities without creating an inner monologue that makes me want to poke my eyes out. Cole and Owen are both quite full of natural insecurities and are from very different worlds. Luckily these two guys match up perfectly, in that they compliment each other. Where Owen is gruff and growly, Cole is gregarious, so intelligent that he tends to ramble and he's adorable. Cole softens Owens edges a bit and Owen gives Cole the ability to focus on being a programmer as opposed to the big deal CEO he's been before the poop hit the fan. The question is how will they come to terms with who Cole really is and how will it change the idyllic existence they've created over the summer?
I loved every single bit of their love story, it was equal parts, funny, tender, sexy and so much fun to read. Fresh Catch hit every note perfectly for me and left me wanting more!
