**AN ARC WAS PROVIDED FOR AN HONEST REVIEW. ALL OPINIONS ARE MY OWN**
OK, I'll start of by saying, Addison and Elijah started their relationship in the most unconventional way. It was definitely one I've never read about. They start off by not knowing each other at all, quickly becoming friends/roommates (that little bit threw me off) and then to lovers. Which definitely made for an interesting story that I rather enjoyed.
As many of you know, I love looking at reviews before I get into a book. And everytime when I finish the book, I think back on some of the reviews and seriously wonder if they actually read the book. Anyways ... Getaway Girl was a first read from this author and as soon as I finished, I went and got another book of hers to get into. Tessa Bailey does an amazing job with not only her writing, but helping us be completely in her character's head. I honestly don't think I would have made it through this book without the dual POV because I just had to know what Addison and Elijah were feeling during certain scenes. And another thing I might add is that Tessa sure does know how to write the dirtiest talk I've ever heard!
Addison has quite the understanding of so many not so great things in her life and you can't help but feel sorry for her. The only parental figure and the most meaningful was her grandma, even with having some relatives around, she has zero connection with them at all. That's why I found it so surprising to hear about Addison going to her cousin's wedding in Charleston, but that's where the story begins for Addison and Elijah. I genuinely loved Addison's character, she's bold, she does the exact opposite of what you'd think she'd do, she just ultimately surprised me. Which made her absolutely perfect for Elijah, but at that point in time in Elijah's life, you'll be curious to know how she'll fit in his life.
Elijah is just the sweetest man ever, but use to living a structured and well planned out life! Makes you wonder how the heck did he get left at the altar, that should be downright illegal. He also surprised me too with the way he handled that whole situation, he didn't break down like many people that he would. And in his life, EVERYONE is always watching him, he's forever in the limelight. But I think one of the main reasons why he was able to carry on like he did because of his odd relationship with Addison. Even though they're both so different, it's evident that belong in each other's lives in some shape or form.
The concept of their budding relationship was such an odd aspect for me to read about, but I enjoyed it very much! Let's just say that this book wasn't what I expected at all and it surprised me all over the place. I definitely plan on reading more of Tessa Bailey!
