After Nora's mother frustrates her too much she storms out of her bakery. Dean goes out into the alley to check on Nora and once they realize that they are both in need of dates they come up with the idea to fake date to get everyone off their backs. When Nora's mother annoys her again, she breaks her own rule and kisses Dean. As their fake relationship grows they begin to wonder if they can have their cronuts and eat them too.
The banter between Dean and Nora was fun and their chemistry heated up more and more throughout. I previously read the book edition and was a little annoyed by Dean but after listening to the audiobook version of Take a Number I have changed my view of the story. Teddy Hamilton gave a whole new view of Dean and Erin Mallon gave Nora even more personality.
