Snake in the Grass was even better than the first book! It certainly had that drama I was expecting! This time, Aphrodite is going up against her lover, Ares. Their players are Kat, a drag racer, and Dillon, a boxer. Dillon has anger issues, so Ares expects this to be an easy win, but Dita knows she’s found his match in the fiercely loyal Kat. In addition to the god’s game and the romance, there’s actually a pretty engaging plot and secondary romance between the players’ siblings.

What I liked best about Snake in the Grass was the drama between the gods! Dita knows Ares is bad for her, but she can’t stay away! Those two have some great hate sex! Dita is also still dealing with the mess with Adonis, and she’s not sure if Apollo really did kill him, or it was Ares. I loved seeing how millenia old problems are still being played out by these immortals! I also felt awful for Dita, because she just wants love, but she’s losing herself along the way. She doesn’t want to be owned by the men she’s with, or put on the shelf on their whims. She wants to be an equal, and the only way for that to happen is to learn the truth.

Snake in the Grass is an interracial romance! Dillon and his brother Owen are Irish, while Kat and her sister Kiki are half-Japanese. Their father is even a leader of the Yakuza, and this plays a pretty major role in the story. The sisters moved to New York to get away from Kiki’s ex who had beat her when she tried to leave him. Of course, if their father found out, Eric would be beyond dead, but Kiki didn’t want to be responsible for his death. Now, the girls have to keep watch over their shoulder. Or at least, Kat does, since she’s super protective of her younger sister, who believes that Eric has forgotten about her. And he may have if Ares hadn’t decided to use him as part of the game…

I really enjoyed Snake in the Grass! There’s a whole lot of “If I can’t have you, no one can” crazy, from both the humans and the gods! It was exciting, engaging, and sexy!
