The Earl’s Christmas Colt is a super cute Historical Romance novella. Arabelle’s brother has just informed her that she’s to marry a future duke in just a few days. She’s not happy with this sudden decision and takes off her on horse to clear her head. Well, her mare gets injured so she heads to an inn that’s closer than her home. There she meets her future husband, but doesn’t know it. She properly introduces herself, but upon recognizing her name, he introduces himself as Mr. Carrington, a common horse breeder. Yep, this is a cute mistaken identity plot.
Arabella rents a horse from the inn and hopes to reach a cottage before a storm hits. “Mr. Carrington” follows to make sure she makes it okay, but they get caught in the storm. There he learns all about her distaste for dukes and her worry about her reputation if her fiance were to find out she’s alone with a strange man. Of course, he comes clean about his identity, she’s upset about the lies, but eventually realizes that it’s not too bad being engaged to an almost duke. Plus he knew about her love of horses and brought her a colt that he had bred (didn’t lie about that!) as a Christmas/wedding present. Sweet.
