- First Date: Harper Winston's brother has disappeared while sailing in the Caribbean. She is worried about foul play and hires her brother's childhood friend even though there was a fallout between the families. Chase Garrett owns Maximum Security and knows Harper's father is dirty. He suspects something is up and agrees to help Harper. (If only to keep her safe.) She has had a crush on him since she was a teen. He knows he needs to keep his hands off her. But both are thinking about it and as they work to find Michael things heat-up. I like the tension and I am curious to see how things unfold.
- Second Date: We spend time in the Caribbean and other countries as they work to find Micheal. This was an intense case and Martin quickly pulled me in. For those who love stories that are heavier on the suspense and mystery you will find the details, twists and surprises welcome. Both Chase and Harper are likable characters and that helped pull me in. They are both strong, intelligent and fearless but sensible. Does that make sense?
- Third Date: It surprised me when the case involving Michael wrapped up and we still had fifty percent to go, but oh boy did Martin bring on suspense and relationship complications as the DEA, FBI and local police become involved. Before it is all over, secrets will be revealed, someone will be arrested, and the relationship will heat up, even if it takes place off the page. Despite some made for TV scenes and escapes it was thrilling! Martin kept it grounded in plausibility (mostly).
