Tattered & Torn / Book 1
Rating... 4.5 Maple Leafs
Tropes... small town, enemies-to-friends-to-lovers, law enforcement, romantic suspense
"Anyone can be brave for twenty breaths. And in that time, you can do almost anything. Or at least take the first steps you need to get there."
One night changed Everly's life forever. The ghosts of her past are still haunting her when she returns back to the property where everything changed. Hayes, the sheriff, is not thrilled to have Everly back in town and still blames her for what happened years prior. But as they start spending more and more time together, they begin to develop a friendship that has the potential for so much more.
"You showed me that there is more power in facing the ghosts and tearing them down, than pretending they don't exist."
I was drawn into the book right from the very beginning. I was on the edge of my seat through the whole story wanting and waiting to see what was going to happen next. I loved Hayes and Everly together and the build of their relationship. The slow burn was well worth the wait. A great start to the Tattered & Torn series and I can not wait for more in this series.
Zachary Weber and Andi Arndt did an amazing job bringing the characters and story to life. They made you feel as if you were part of the story. I haven't listened to a book with these narrators in a long time and after listening to this book I remember why they are two of my favourite narrators.
Triggers... kidnapping, assault, threats
