Storm Gathering brought with it more action, more tension, more hotness and a strong plot!

Story:

I was so happy Storm Gathering brought me Maureen's and Greyson's story, as they were on the sidelines in Justice Ascending. With every book in the series, a little more about the scorpius syndrome's mystery is uncovered. And here, some real solutions were found - until the president stepped in to make things difficult for Maureen.

Between the Mercs and the Vanguard, Greyson is feeling his loyalties split. And when the president also starts meddling in Greyson's affairs, things become even more complicated. A lot of the action in Storm Gathering unfolds in the bunker, and there is still a lot to be discovered there.

As I read Storm Gathering, I was on the edge of my seat almost non-stop, and I cannot wait to see what will happen next. The tension was extremely high, but Zanetti still managed to include some tender, loving moments anyway.

Characters:

Maureen finally got her own book! As Raze's little sister, she had been mentioned more than once in prior books, and I was very curious about her. Smart. Diligent. Loyal. She gave a very human dimension to the story.

Greyson was stone cold when he had to be. But when it came to Maureen, his heart was able to feel both tenderness and love.

Almost all the important characters from the prior books were present in Storm Gathering, and this made me have hope for these rag-tag people and the possibility of their survival.

Writing style :

Storm Gathering is written in third person, past tense, and the dialogues brought all the characters to life. The pace is rather fast, which meshed well with all the action.

Feels :

Gah! Too many feels to list them all! I was seriously in anguish at times, because I just didn't know what Greyson would do. Then, I was all happy and sappy at times. Of course, I also felt a lot of hope, which at times got crushed by hopelessness...

He was the most striking man Maureen Shadow had ever seen in real life.

Yet here he was staling her. Some sociopaths turned into serial killers - either the wild, crazy kind or the brilliant, strategic kind like Ted Bundy.
