10 years is a long wait for blissful...but so worth it.

Here's the story of a lovely lady...well more like ice lady, but who's going to quibble about the little details. The ice lady is Sam, a police officer whose nickname was applied by colleagues because of her tough and icy attitude at work. Unfortunately, she's not just icy at work. No man has been able to break through the ice that has been enclosing her heart for the last ten years.

Here's the story of a man named Sean...and what a man, what a man, what a mighty good man, yes he is (sing it, I know you want to). This mighty good man has had some hard knocks in his time. Sean lost his parents at a young age and then his grandparents when he was almost finished with his law studies. His younger brother Ryan, struggled with those losses too and expected Sean to pick up the pieces every time he goes off the rails. Sean's patience and understanding of Ryan's actions can only go so far.

This is a second chance at love for Sam and Sean. One of Ryan's derailing brings the couple face to face again after ten years. When they were younger and in love, Sam took some bad advice and ended their relationship. Neither were able to move on properly and had sex only relationships for the years they are apart. At first they must overcome the issues that caused their break up, then adjust their expectations as they both have changed.

I really enjoyed this hot and steamy read. There are some dominant and submissive scenes but they are pretty tame with some spankings and bondage. Definitely not a hardcore BDSM story.

Once their relationship had been reestablished most of the angst is external. There are some scenes where we have a glimpse at the past and see their connection and where things went wrong. We get to catch up with some old friends and meet some new ones as well. There is a funny scene where Sam and Sean hold a dinner party and Sean realises that Sam's work partner and friend Zanders, is someone he knows because of a mutual "friend" they shared...not at the same time, as vehemently stated by both men. This mutual "friend" is the heroine Mack, from the first story in this series. Neither men ended up with Mack so their girlfriends took great pleasure in their discomfort.

Blissful Surrender was a great read. At times I didn't understand Sam's devotion to her work over everything else and I was baffled that neither had searched each other out in the ten years they were apart. I still enjoyed this author's work regardless of those issues. I will definitely be reading more in this series.
