I’ll admit that I haven’t read anything else by Kate Leth (though her goodreads profile has a decent list going), and that I just picked up this one on impulse because I liked the cover. I’m so glad I did though, as not only did I find another series I like, but I found another author/artist to follow. On some days, you can’t ask for more than that.
The three main characters are all so different from one another, while simultaneously still being best friends. I think it’d be easy for most people to find a favorite from the group. The three of them together are basically friendship goals; they’re so supporting and understanding of each other.
On top of showing an amazing friendship, Spell on Wheels also gives us so much more to enjoy; diversity (the main three girls alone are very diverse, in both looks and personality), humor, feminism (Claire is particularly amazing about this), empowerment, inclusion, and obviously the occult (witches, ghosts, a spelled goat-man, a little bit of everything). Oh, I forgot to mention the sassy one liners, there’s quite of bit of that. There’s even an evil ex for us to hate on, so that’s a bonus.
Spell on Wheels won’t demand hours of your time – you can quickly and comfortably get through it in one sitting. Which is great because it allows you to dig right into the story. So if you have some time, I’d suggest giving it a try.
