To Love and to Cherish (The Wedding Belles, #3)

by Lauren Layne

Sex and the City meets The Wedding Planner in The Wedding Belles, a contemporary and witty romance series about three high-powered New York City women who can plan any wedding-but their own.

Alexis Morgan has spent the past six years devoted to turning her tiny start-up into Manhattan's premiere wedding planning company, The Wedding Belles. Now that her business is thriving, it's time to turn towards her much neglected personal life, and Alexis approaches her relationships like she does everything else: with a plan. Not a part of that plan is Logan Harris, the silent partner in the Belles, and the one person who's been there for her since the very beginning. But Alexis needs someone fun, and Logan's all business, all the time-except when a late night at the office ends with an unexpected kiss that leaves the usually cool and together Alexis reeling.

Logan has lusted after Alexis since the day he walked into the tiny Harlem apartment that used to double as her office. But the ambitious wedding planner has always been untouchable...until now. Alexis has made it clear that she's on the dating market-and equally clear that he's not in the running. But when Alexis finds herself in need of a date for her sister's last minute wedding in Florida, Logan knows it's the perfect time to show Alexis that there's more to him than numbers and spreadsheets-and beneath the pinstripes and glasses lies a hot-blooded heartthrob. As Florida's sultry days turn into even hotter nights, Logan's out to convince Alexis that the fling of a lifetime could just maybe turn into forever...

I was more than a little apprehensive before reading this final book in The Wedding Belles series because the hero is British. The reason? I'm British and previously left disappointed with how my fellow countrymen have been written by other writers. I needn't have worried because Ms. Layne nailed Logan's Britishness to perfection...swoon!

The Wedding Belles has been Alexis Morgan's life for the past eight years. She lived the dreams of the scores of brides who's weddings she's arranged, but somehow never put aside time to pursue her own happy ever after. Until now. Only, she's surprised that her 'rock' for the past eight years wants to be the man to sweep her off her feet.

Logan Harris hadn't planned on staying in New York after he'd finished his education at Columbia, but somehow the city had gotten under his skin and it felt like home. Meeting Alexis Morgan in a bar eight years ago was another reason to keep him on the wrong side of the pond...depending on who's point of view you are referring too. Only now he has to go back home and take over the family business. When he hears that the woman of his dreams is looking for her Mr. Right he knows he has to act fast, but didn't expect that he'd have to pull out all the stops because he's not the man Alexis has on her radar...yet!

Oh, Logan...how I love you! Any guy that craves a properly made cup of tea wins my heart every time! He possesses a wonderful sense of humour and charm that's the epitome of British reserve...and here lies the problem. He's spent the past eight years fighting his lustful feelings for Alexis instead of acting on them because he believed she wasn't ready for a relationship.

Alexis plays the part of a vibrant, confident woman to perfection, but underneath her professionalism is a woman who has her insecurities. She's spent years playing it safe by socialising with the people she works around until it dawns on her that everyone is moving on with their lives except herself and Logan…

To Love and to Cherish is a wonderful finale to The Wedding Belles series. It's fun and very sexy, yet there's a palpable tension between the protagonists when there's a shift within their relationship. The road to their happy ever after is bumpy and frustrating but entertaining nonetheless as meddling friends/colleagues make them see what they've tried to deny for years.
