I’m really enjoying the current run of Spider-Man. It’s somewhere between going back to roots and accepting everything that’s already happened to him. I actually really like how they don’t shy away from things that happened in previous versions. I know sometimes that leads to details we’d rather forget (every long running series like this has them) being brought up again…but I prefer it to just pretending it never happened. Maybe that’s just me.
Mary Jane had an interesting role in this issue…but it was nice seeing her get a chance to actually talk about her side of things, as well as a chance to come to terms with what it will mean for her.
The Black Cat plot was fun as well, but it got surprisingly heavy at the end, and not in the way you’d expect. It was incredibly well written, and I’m looking forward to seeing if there are any long term effects from it.
