Tangle of Need was not a book I was DYING to get to. I love this series, but I wasn't passionate about getting Riaz and Adria's story. But, Singh is the queen of the genre for a reason and I am so glad to have listened to the love story of these two broken souls!
Riaz met his mate. End of story, right? Nope. His mate is a human, happily married to another human. Riaz is sure he will be miserable and broken hearted for the rest of his days. He heads back to Snow Dancer to heal with his pack around. He feels a strong attraction to Adria, but knows that nothing could ever come from it. Adria feels the pull too but is determined to not get caught up in Riaz's drama and despair. You know what they say about the best laid plans...
My heart broke for Adria. She is a strong soldier with a deep heart for caring. She has not had luck with men and is sure Riaz will break her heart. She can't see how anything good can come from their relationship but she isn't strong enough to resist the need for skin privileges. They begin an affair but Adria is always waiting for the end. My heart hurt for her!! And honestly, I couldn't even be mad at Riaz because it wasn't like any of this was his choice either. Not having anyone to 'blame' for the situation made it all the more poignant.
In addition to the tragic love story of Adria and Riaz, there is the building Psy civil war. You get more of Hawke and Sienna, Riley and Mercy, Kaleb and the arrows. Its all coming to a head and its going to be vicious. Each book in the series adds to the arc of this impending war and leaves you panting to get the next installment! Seriously-at the end of this one I was like 'What?!? No!!!!'
Tangle of Need was the Psy-Changeling book I didn't know I need in my life. What happens when you aren't in love with your fated mate? Its a question I didn't realize I wanted an answer for but am so thrilled Singh provided it.
