You could say this is the love story of Landon and Emma, but really, it's so much more. It's a story of putting others before yourself. It's a story of making sacrifices for those you love. It's a story of personal growth and taking chances. At first, I thought it was a typical romance - girl meets boy, boy wins girl over, and a summer fling ensues. And then, BAM! I just did not see that coming until it was right on top of me. This plot twist really complicates things and forces a wedge between Emma and Landon. There are a lot of really beautiful moments in this book. I appreciate all the light Ward shed on lives of people with physical and developmental disabilities. And thank you, Laura Ward, for the epilogue, which satisfied my need to know what happened after.
