If you haven’t read Six of Crows – hop to it. By far one of the best books I’ve read in 2016. Bardugo returns us to the dark and gritty world of Ketterdam, only moments after the finale of Six of Crows. The stakes are hire as Kaz and the team race to put themselves one step ahead of Pekka Rollins and Van Eck.
Bardugo masterfully weaves a tale, while switching between six characters, making sure action, tension and violence never offer a reprieve. She manages to pull on my heart strings with every character, every relationship, every everything. Everything she does hit me hard.
The ending was everything I didn’t know I wanted. Did somethings happen that I would have preferred not to? Yes. But in the end I hated the thought of walking away from these characters and not knowing that the next plan was. I hope Bardugo picks up this world in one way or another, but all in all this book ended deservedly.
