Selected Stories: Science Fiction, volume 2 is a new collection of short fiction from prolific SF author Kevin J. Anderson. I was mostly familiar with Anderson's work through tie-in franchise novels in the X-Files, Star Wars, and the Dune universes (the last of these co-authored with Brian Herbert). Released 29th Jan 2019 by Wordfire, it's 344 pages and available in hardback, paperback, and ebook formats.

There are a broad range of stories here in short to medium lengths. All 16 of the included stories are introduced by the author. (I love these introductions!). I really enjoy the glimpses into the background of the varied processes which go into writing, and these are enticing.

All of the included stories save one (“Show Me Some Skin”) have previous publication history over the last 3 decades. They're all very well written and enjoyable. I especially loved Prevenge, a time travel murder mystery.

Four stars trending toward 5 stars. Especially for lovers of short fiction collections, there are real gems here.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
