Wicked Kiss by Michelle Rowen

Wicked Kiss (Nightwatchers, #2)

by Michelle Rowen

My kiss can kill.

I used to be ordinary Samantha Day, but that's changed. Now, after one dark kiss from a dangerous boy, I can steal someone's soul...or their life. If I give in to the constant hunger inside me, I hurt anyone I kiss. If I don't...I hurt myself.

Bishop is the one whose kiss I crave most, but if I kiss him, I'll kill him. Then there's another boy, one I can't hurt. One whose kiss seems to miraculously quell my hunger. They're both part of a team of angels and demons that's joined forces in my city to fight a mysterious rising darkness, an evil that threatens everyone I know and love. I just wonder if I'll be able to help Bishop--or if I'm just another part of the darkness he's sworn to destroy....

NIGHTWATCHERS: When angels and demons must work together, something beyond evil is rising...

Bishop is as troubled as they come. Of course having a soul that is slowing ripping apart his angelic mind would have a lot to do with that. Not to mention carrying around the weight of a past he can’t quite remember. But, one touch from Samantha and his sanity seems to return, rushing back to him all at once, and leaving him wanting more. That would be ok if her kiss wouldn’t rob him of his soul. If he could only get it back to her, he could have her, all of her. He thought finding it would be his biggest problem but it’s finding out who her father is and what he plans to do that has his mind ready to nose dive and Bishop craving her kiss more than ever.

Samantha was just fine, that is until some guy stole her soul. Now she is hunting more than ever to get it back, terrified of what she might do if she doesn’t find it in time. All she feels is her hunger, especially when Bishop is around. The hunger for him goes a thousand times deeper and it is taking everything she has not to steel a kiss and what is left of his soul. Things get even worse when she finds out where dear old dad has been hiding and what he plans to do with all of his new found power. It’s a race against time to find what she has lost before she loses herself to that growing hunger and the kiss she is dying to have.

Bishop still doesn’t know if he wants her because she took part of his soul or because he is truly in love with her. The one thing he is sure of is that every time she is near he is dying to get closer and so is she. It takes everything they have to pull away and with both of them falling farther into the darkness it is only a matter of time before things go from bad to worse.

I really enjoyed this book and the story behind it. I have to confess though that I was more in love with Bishop’s demon brother Kraven…Yes! It’s not that Bishop isn’t amazing on his own but the bad boy draws me like a moth to the flame. The story is very different from the books I have read which only adds to its appeal and I think in the end my only complaint was Samantha. Although she was a strong character her overwhelming jealousy came of whiny at times. Other than that this book was wonderful and I would read it again in a heartbeat.
