My review is 3.5 Stars

Where the Sky Meets the Sand takes place over a period time, spanning two continents. Flashing back to the 1980s from 1996 and 1997, between Kenya and Chicago, it follows Jenny’s faith journey, as she learns to trust God to work all things for good.

I love Africa, and always have. Having visited South Africa only increased that fascination with that continent. I was excited to find this book and loved reading of Kenya and the Massai people. The descriptions of the country and the people made me feel like I was there experiencing it personally. It is obvious that the author has a love for the country and the people of Kenya. She dealt with the hardships they face with tact and kindness.

There is a very clear message of salvation through Jesus and the love of God. Prayer plays a large role in the story.

Jenny’s story was touching, and I did like the characters. There were a couple of things that happened in the book that seemed like a bit too much of a stretch for me to believe. There were also some things described which left me wondering exactly what did happen. The entire story switched back and forth from the events of Jenny’s college years to 1996 in Chicago, then in Kenya and didn’t stay in any one time quite long enough to make it as interesting as it could have been.
