In HIS WICKED DESIRE, we have two characters raised together who have to figure out who to deal with their practically life long love of each other while one of them fights to keep the other in the dark about the witchcraft and evil that seems to follow.

Brye is recovering from her run-in with a warlock, which left her with a horrifying scar on her face. For the woman who was used to using her looks and her charm to get what she wanted, having the scar did tremendous damage to her self esteem. So when long time family friend, Josh, starts checking in on her she finds hers teenage feelings towards Josh rekindling. And after discovering that she too has special witch powers, powers she has unknowingly used her entire life, Brye isn't sure what she can trust when it comes to how Josh feels for her.

I didn't read the first book in this series, but it wasn't necessary to get into Josh and Brye's story. The author does a great job of providing enough backstory to move forward without feeling lost. At the heart of this story was Brye understanding that she is lovable, despite what might have happened when she was a teenager with Josh or what a hateful, crazy-ass uncle might say about her. Once she understands that she is more than her looks, she opens herself up to the love of her family and Josh, who finally realizes just how much he loves his childhood friend.

I enjoyed this story. It was a great mix of paranormal and emotions. I look forward to going back to the first book in the series and seeing what's to come.
