I received an ARC through NetGalley.

Even though I wasn’t a huge fan of the first book, I decided to give How Beauty Saved the Beast a chance anyway, per my 2 book rule. I can say that I’m a fan now! The sexiness that was missing for me in How Beauty Met the Beast was certainly not missing in this one! The author really amped up the sexual tension between Hauk and Jolie, and it drove me crazy! In a good way! I have never witnessed two people walk in on a conversation at the wrong moment so many times in so few pages! I wanted to shake my Kindle and yell at them to just tell each other how they felt already! Gosh those two! In addition to just poor timing and lack of communication, the dangerous plot also got in the way of our heroes.

The plot was a lot easier to follow and more interesting in How Beauty Saved the Beast, which I really appreciated. Ananke is still targeting the Underlight, but they’re being more aggressive in their pursuit of Hauk. I really enjoyed the mythology twist that was introduced toward the end, and I’m eager to learn more about that. The only thing that keeps this from getting another star is the lack of world-building. This book is really short, so the plot is front, center, and fast paced, but I would have liked to have learned more about the Underlight and their mission. I’m not one to be happy just knowing that it exists and fights evil corporations. I’d like to know more about their underground society and exactly why they’re doing what they’re doing.
