Karen Ramirez has just graduated from college and secured a place at medical school. With four years of study already under her belt, she's out of the loop when it comes to partying and socialising generally. During a night out with her sister to celebrate her academic achievement, she literally walks into a man that will soon become more than a stranger.
Mark Lansing is a 'love 'em and leave 'em' guy, never wanting more when he hooks up with a woman. Luckily, he spends time with women of a similar mind, just wanting a good time too. After seeing his friend Ethan fall for the beautiful Gracie Ramirez, he's beginning to re-think his life. Should he consider settling down as too? The stunningly attractive woman he's just met would be a good place to start, only she doesn't fit his criteria and she's also Gracie's little sister.
The attraction between Karen and Mark is instant, yet both want to deny the sizzling chemistry between them. Yet, fate steps in when both are set to play a role in Ethan and Gracie's surprise wedding. When their will-power to keep their distance from each other fails, they embark on a hot and passionate fling, whilst still fighting their reasons to stay apart.
Mia Sosa is a new to me author and I love how she presents Puerto Rico to her readers. I really felt the atmosphere of the island, which makes the location come alive. The writing is fun and light and I read this book in one sitting, with the narrative keeping my attention the whole time. I loved how Mark was so determined to make a future with Karen work, showing his maturity in a positive way.
I'll definitely be looking for more titles by this writer.
4 star.
