While Ivory is the second book in the series, its events actually take place before Temptress. However, each book reads like a standalone, so you can read them in whichever order you prefer. I am glad that I read Ivory second though, because it’s even better than the first book! Again, we’re following a woman with super powers who’s attempting to stay under the rader. Valdis aka Ivory (as the public names her when they discover her) is an airline attendant running from her past. On a flight from Aukerland to Los Angeles, the air conditioning goes out, so she uses her ice powers to help keep passengers cool. Of course there’s a bad guy on board who takes notice, and Val has no choice but to take him out.
Someone else takes notice of Val on that flight. One of the Manhattan Ten, Panther, is on board tracking the guy who attacked her. He was sleeping though, hence Val taking the situation into her own hands. The fight thrusts her into the lime light and the only way to avoid jail time was to join the league of superheros. Not what she wants at all. However, Ivory is now working closely with Panther, and he’s the first man to get her icey blood stirring. Unlike Temptress, there is a pretty detailed and hot sex scene. Those two just cannot keep their hands and lips off of each other!
Fans of Paranormal Romance will likely enjoy this superhero twist on the genre. I also think that shifter lovers can appreciate it too, since one of Panther’s powers is to turn into a panther, obviously. There’s plenty of action so there’s some Urban Fantasy crossover, too. I just really enjoyed Ivory. It’s fun, fast moving, and sexy. I cannot wait for more of these superhero romances!
