Can Luke ever trust Gwen?

Gift Horse by Beth Carpenter is a fantastic book about earning trust, falling in love, and helping out in the community. I learned a lot of things in this book about the inner workings of a carousel and especially the organ part. Ms. Carpenter did a marvelous job writing this book.

Luke Mueller

Luke Mueller is the main male character and is in his bubble. He holds resentment to his next-door neighbors family since they weren't there for the neighbor that Luke came to love. Luke is also a recluse because he doesn't want to get hurt again and thinks everyone will hurt him. He has a complicated past, but Luke overcomes it throughout the storyline. Luke is an excellent character because he is rejoining society and is starting to trust people again. He has gotten past it and is now a better person because of it.

Gwen Heatherton

Gwen Heatherton is the main female character and is the definition of a people-pleaser. Gwen's grandma was Luke's neighbor and had been telling her to stop trying to be perfect despite what Gwen's parents have put in her head since she was born. She is a great cook and baker; she is also getting her own business started, which her mom is making hard for her. Gwen is an excellent character because yes she is a people pleaser, but Gwen loves to do it. Despite that meaning, she is stretched too thin often but with Luke around to help out its all good.

Five Stars

Gift Horse by Beth Carpenter is a great read. It has a great happy ending, and everything is going kind of smoothly for the couple. Then again, that is how one can tell when one is in an actual relationship. Gwen does end up helping Luke, and they learn a lot of things from each other. I am giving this book a five-star rating and wanting to recommend it to everyone that loves Romance.
