Thea and Xander have known each other ever since Cade, Thea's brother, and Xander became the best of friends. Nothing had ever happened between despite the attraction. It wasn't until a night in Vegas that something big happened. It's all Xander has ever wanted: to finally have Thea. But Thea isn't sure this will work between them. Xander has the summer to convince her that they were meant to be.
I feel like I've waited long enough to call her mine. Now that I have her, I still don't really have her, and it sucks.
When I read Rae of Sunshine, I remember needing this book. I bothered Micalea a lot for this story! When she said she was planning on writing it, I flipped out. I never expected this book would see the light of day and now it's out in the world! I fell in love with all the characters once again. The whole cast has a close friendship, almost like family. They are so fun and relatable. I could easily see them as my best friends. Can they be real?! I want Thea as my bestie!
Thea is a very hyper character, which can be seen in Rae of Sunshine. When I started When Stars Collide, Thea was very reserved and that side of her was hidden. As I kept reading, her bubbling personality was back and I was loving it. The reason she wasn't truly herself was because she was scared of the whole marriage thing. Xander is so very patient with her and only shows her love. He's so caring of her and so thoughtful. Xander is a great book boyfriend. At the beginning, Thea doubted if Xander really wanted her, but Xander erased all those thoughts very quickly. She was mostly scared of what her brother would think. And let me tell you, Micalea handled this perfectly!
"Some things are meant to be and will find a way no matter the circumstances."
You see, while this is a brother's best friend trope, it's not like any other. For one thing, the trope isn't the climax of the story, meaning the brother isn't placed in the story to break them up. When Cade found out, he got mad because it was his sister, but mostly because they hid it from him. Once he got over the secrecy, which was very quickly, everyone was back to normal! It wasn't overly dramatic at all so I give props to Micalea.
The relationship in this book is so freaking cute and fun to read! Thea and Xander are a unique couple when it comes to all the quirks. It's also endearing how carefree they are with one another and how they trust each other so much. It got to a point that I could feel the love and trust coming out of the pages. I even messaged the author and told her how I could not see this couple being broken up by anything because of their trust. Thankfully, the author didn't taint this relationship, which I absolutely loved!
When you've already loved someone the way I've loved him for years, it's all too easy to fall over the edge of a new kind of love. A better kind of love.
When Stars Collide is a funny, light-hearted, beautiful and quirky story that shows it's okay to follow your own dreams and accomplish them.
I received an ARC from the author for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. This review was originally posted on Latte Nights Reviews.
