Squeeze Play by Aven Ellis

Squeeze Play (Washington DC Soaring Eagles, #1)

by Aven Ellis

Full of enthusiasm, recent graduate Hayley Carter is thrilled to be working for a non-profit organization in Washington, DC. Having spent a lot of her life in the background due to family circumstances, Hayley is eager to step up and be heard—and bring much needed change to her new organization. With romance on the shelf, it’s time to focus on herself and new career. Armed with a workbook to help her improve on a personal and professional level, Hayley is ready to become a better version of who she already is.

But will a baseball player for the Washington Soaring Eagles challenge her thoughts on not only dating, but the person she thinks she needs to be?

Brody Jensen is the new catcher for the professional team in DC. Baseball is everything to Brody and has been his salvation while growing up. Brody wants to make the most of his full-time shot behind the plate. Which means no serious relationships.

However, when a chance encounter leads him to Hayley, Brody finds himself wanting to know all about the beautiful blonde who has engaged him from the moment he spotted her. Together, they find themselves questioning the ideals they had set for not only relationships, but themselves, too.

When the cherry blossoms bloom in the nation's capital, Cupid puts a squeeze play on Hayley and Brody. Will they be brave enough to love themselves and each other? Will love be called out? Or will their relationship be safe at home?

This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews Thank you to Aven for both my copy of this book and for organising this tour. If you have read Aven's books before you know that she has a few hockey series as well as contemporary romances. This book is a brand new series for Aven and a new sport too, in Baseball.

I'm not into sports and I don't know anything about Baseball but that didn't affect my enjoyment of this story one bit.

The story follows Hayley as she embarks on her first job since graduating. She sources a good coffee shop close by which  is an essential. Here she meets Brody in one of the funniest scenes I have ever read! I love Hayley. I love how funny she is. Aven's characters are real and relatable. Hayley thinks that she needs to improve herself in order to be good enough for not only Brody but for everyone else too. I know I have felt like that at times and I am sure everyone else has too.

Brody didn't enjoy school and his only lifeline was Baseball. Baseball is his life and being traded to DC was a big deal for him. Brody is not only smart he is caring and loyal too. He notices things that other people don't.

I love the relationship these two have. I love the way they bounce off each other. They are both fun and passionate.

I have been a big fan of Aven's books since her debut book Connectivity, we are now on book 15 and I have enjoyed seeing Aven's writing grow and develop. Aven's books have become funnier and funnier and I couldn't be more proud and more honoured to be part of it.

I honestly cannot wait for the next book whether it be Hockey, Baseball or something completely different I know that Aven's style will be there and for me that is all that matters.
