All I Ever Wanted

by Kristan Higgins

What happens when you get all you ever dreamed of...and find it's not what you wanted?

Callie Grey has got a great job, a great man, and fingers crossed, a whopping great diamond - then her boss/boyfriend gives her dream and her sparkly ring to someone else... Determined to show Mark he's made a huge mistake Callie sets her sites on a new man.

The trouble is, Ian's isn't the least bit impressed with Callie's wit and sparkling personality. Funny's always been Callie's thing. Never quite smart enough for her family she's relied on fun-loving spontaneity to get her through.

Now, with a life left on the shelf looming, a job situation that's unworkable, and a new unreciprocated crush - is it time for a new Callie Grey? She's spent her life reaching for the moon. Now Callie's let go, and falling among the stars, who will be there to catch her?

I had a prompt for my Monopoly TBR board to read a favorite author. It's no secret that Kristan Higgins is my go to favorite so I picked one of the few remaining back list books that I haven't read. I chose to read All I Ever Wanted by Kristan Higgins.

I really liked this book. This is what I love about Higgins's writing. There's the main character and her love struggles, her sister's struggles, her parents's struggles (which spawned the sister's troubles), and her grandfather's struggles. It is usually a family affair and so much of that is reflective of actual life.

I think we all have a Mark Rousseau in our history. The guy we loved from afar just waiting to realize how wonderful we were? Thankfully mine wasn't all that aware of me! (Thank you!!) I loved watching Callie and Ian work through all of their garbage to get to their HEA. Also? I have some strong feelings about Mark, Muriel, AND Fleur. Callie is a bigger person than me.

I loved Callie (plus I learned how to pronounce Calliope by listening to the audio!). I loved them all. I'm a sucker for a grumpy Grampy and this one was no different. The supporting characters were fantastic and added so much to the story.

I'm not as in love with Ian as I typically am with Higgins's leading men but I'm going to chalk that up to him taking a lot of time to open up. Ian required more time than most but I still ended up loving him!

I'm so glad to still have back listed books that I can go back and pick up. They're always the right amount of sweet that I need!
