Diana IS fire - or rather, she is a fire elemental. She and her three "sisters" are all elementals, working for The Mother to right the wrongs that they can - those who have broken their with Mother and need to be hunted down. It's a fairly lonely life, one of constant travel and, often, death. But when Diana gets involved in a missing child case where vampires are also involved, much of what she holds true will be tested.

I was rather pleasantly surprised by this book. The characters are well-written, and there is a sense of fun within the dialogue that often made me smile and/or giggle out loud. The romance that crops up during the investigation is one that can be foreseen, but it is not overly pushy or out there...in fact, little is actually done about it for - well, quite a while.

What I also liked is that there are bits of the other elementals that pop up, which sets up the next books very well. For example, the air elemental showed up a bit in this novel and hers is the next being worked on. I'm guessing that pattern will hold true, at least until the last one in the series.

Overall, it was a quick, fun read - perfect for the upcoming beach season!
