Star and Marco’s Guide to Mastering Every Dimension is a pretty cute tie in, all things considered. Any fan of the show that’s desperate for any sort of bread crumb (like me) will be happy with the details revealed in this book. Some of the info is silly, others funny, and other bits can be astounding.

One of the things I was really hoping for was a Butterfly Family Tree. While there isn’t a complete one (I think), there is quite a bit more than had previously been hinted at during the series. So I’ll take it! A couple more queens are mentioned, as well as the hierarchy for most of Mewni, which was interesting to see (I hadn’t realized so many of the kingdoms spoken of were actually part of the same world).
Other highlights include Princess Pony Head’s sisters are all quickly described (all twelve of them!), as well as the reason for Pony Head being the princess. There’s a full map of Mewni as well, and some funny banter between the main cast.
It’s probably worth noting that this book isn’t actually a story – it’s written in journal form, with Star and Marco being the predominant “writers” and Pony Head interjecting as she saw fit. It bounces around between subjects, from little quizzes to a few pages of Star’s spellbook, as explained by Glossaryck, and so on.
No matter what your ship is, chances are there’s something in this book for you, though it’s probably in joke form or very subtle (but then again, most of us shippers are fine with hunting for snippets, aren’t we?).
