I was expecting for a big revelation or a major plot twist but never came. We were promised about Colby’s special job in book 1 and 2, how it will greatly affect his relationship with Anya once she figures it out, or the haunting past of Colby and why he can leave Anya in a heartbeat over his family. I expected more for this finale but it’s all in a blur. The twists and turns here aren’t discussed thoroughly. I’d love it more if we focus on each problems that were presented and how it was resolved or unresolved..

Here are some of the points I want to understand and know more

⁃ Colby’s past that haunts him and why is he overprotective to Paige and Maddy. It was explained that it involves Scott and his dad. But the abuse and illness of his dad wasn’t explained well. I’d love to get the history why his dad was like that. And omg why he let his father do things to him and Paige. It’s not just about him being drunk, but he might be sick mentally.
⁃ Scott’s sudden death, is there no foul play? I was actually expecting that there’ll be some plot twist like maybe Colby’s dad may have something to do with Scott’s death.
⁃ Maddy’s trauma where she kills a worm that may likely cause her to have a psychological issue, it wasn’t explained well how it may affect this child. Does she also experience the abuse?
⁃ Anya’s dad who seem to be very supportive of her all of a sudden. In books 1 and 2, Anya’s dad is a prick. I hate how Anya’s suddenly become nobody’s child. Her dad remarried while her mom has a new fiance.
⁃ Revelation of Colby’s scandal (the girl and her limo), it didn’t create that huge impact. I would’ve like Anya to feel doubt and hurt and be able to stand up on her own and know what she wants
⁃ His dad on rehab, well we got 1 paragraph about this.

There were a lot of sex scenes. I was really looking for an action, but we didn’t get it here. I’d say book 2 put me on the edge because of the climbing and summiting.

We were given bits of information about the revelations like when Paige told Colby “did you know dad’s in rehab again?” First, who put him there, second why does it feel like they didn’t know about it and just guessing, third, why wont they talk to him and deal with him for the last time.

Even the way Colby proposed and how they got married is rushed. (If you call it a real wedding since it was presided by a friend’s dad without the authority to facilitate a wedding. It’s like Colby and Anya were bunch of idiots playing around.

I was super excited to read this because I really love book 1 and 2, I get to see Colby’s charm and Anya’s determination. But here, I see Anya’s desperation and Colby’s coldness.

I definitely would want to read more from this author, Dakota sure knows how to make us imagine the setting and I really cried here because Colby’s being a bitch to Anya.
