Can Morgan Merryweather save the world?

Morgan Merryweather and the Cloak of One Thousand Stars by Carey Child could be a great book with some editing. Morgan sounds like a great character, but she also needs some more work done to make her better.

What I like:

  • It’s written in the third-person, and it seems okay.

  • The book seems a bit slow until Morgan is thrust into this new world, but once she does, it seems a bit too fast. I think there needs to be some more plot working.

  • The book is short but has potential.

What I don’t like:

The plot summary with the book I got wasn’t the same. It felt like I was reading a first draft instead of a finished product. This book needs to see an editor.

Another thing is that the formatting needs work. I didn’t appreciate the whole recipes before the book and then having them before each chapter as that wasn’t very fun to read at all.

As for the characters, Morgan and Rubin, the love interests of the book, had a lot of romantic entanglements before they got to know each other and didn’t fit in with what Morgan was trying to become. Morgan also looks like Betty Boop with longer hair and different eye colors, at least that was my perception.

Three Star

Morgan Merryweather and the Cloak of One Thousand Stars by Carey Child has great potential as long as the author revisits this story.  I also think that a book this complex needs more than just being a short book like it is. So, for that, I am giving this book a three-star rating.

Until the next time,
