Lovely, lovely book. I get these guys, both of them. There’s enough plot to keep the story going, but the pacing for most of it makes for more of a character study and I love that about it. The fact it’s Australia is a nice change of scene. Also, and this is a big thing for me when any kind of relationship is involved: I can picture what their day to day lives look like beyond the last page. The struggles are real and grounded and important. Being a cop affects every part of their lives.
I think it’s one of those books that’s only going to keep growing on me. I’m so drawn to books with two people stuck on the edge of civilization. Gio is my favorite, but only just.
