The Book of Amazing Trees is a pictorial encyclopedia of trees aimed at younger readers by Nathalie Tordjman. Originally published in French in 2020, this English language translation from Princeton Architectural Press is due out 14th Sept 2021. It's 72 pages and will be available in hardcover format.
This is a really beautifully illustrated, accessible, scientifically correct book of trees of many different growth habits and from many different areas. The chapters are arranged logically and the abbreviated index makes information easy to find. The introduction covers some tree physiology, including types of leaves and their shapes. Following chapters cover growth, germination, adaptation, and a collection of facts about exceptional trees, admired for their size or their fruit or growth habits.
Short quizzes and more in-depth information are presented in highlighted text boxes throughout to allow readers to test themselves on what they've learned. The games and quizzes have solutions and answer keys in the back of the book.
Four stars. This would make a superlative choice for public or school library acquisition, classroom instruction, nature groups, or home use.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
