OBIEE 11g (Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition) Reports and Dashboards LiveLessons introduces students to the querying and analytical capabilities of Oracle Analytics using the web interface. This course is primarily for business analysts or programmers utilizing OBIEE for analysis. Students will leave the course being able to produce reports and retrieve information from the Oracle RDBMS using the OBIEE web interface.



Description



In this LiveLessons video course, Oracle ACE Director Dan Hotka covers how to create, modify, run, and refine ad hoc queries. Students will learn to view, chart, and analyze multidimensional data. They will also learn to produce individual ad hoc reports and make these reports and information easy to access (dashboards). The final lesson focuses on using BI Publisher to transform these reports into polished/formatted/quality reports in about any language or format required.

Introduction



Lesson 1: OBIEE 11g Reports and Dashboards Course Overview

Lesson 1: course pre-requisites, the course database objects, and the follow-along OBIEE environment available from Oracle Corp. This lesson then reviews the OBIEE architecture so that you can see all the components involved with OBIEE. It then introduces the main OBIEE interface and concludes with logging into the OBIEE environment for use throughout these lessons.



Lesson 2: OBIEE Analysis

Lesson 2builds the first OBIEE analysis report and reviews useful OBIEE fundamentals such as saving your report in the catelog, exporing your data, making pdf reports of your analysis report.



Lesson 3: OBIEE Formatting Features

Lesson 3builds another report while illustrating useful formatting and various column properties. This lesson contains a nice overview of how graphs and charts should be used to display different types of data. This lesson also adds graphs and charts to existing reports.



Lesson 4: OBIEE Pivot Tables and Hierarchical Data Drilling

Lesson 4 illustrates how to setup pivot tables (4.1), and then how to drill into the detail of the pivot table contents.



Lesson 5: OBIEE Column and Dashboard Prompts

Lesson 5 shows you how to use prompts to allow both reports and dashboards (covered later in this course) to ask the user for the type of data to display in the report. This lesson actually builds and saves prompts that can be common across many reports and dashbaords perhaps.



Lesson 6: Additional OBIEE Formatting Features

Lesson 6 works with bottom filters and conditional formatting techniques. Narrative views and custom formulas are also illustrated. The lesson concludes with enhancements to graphs and graph map features.



Lesson 7: Action Links
Lesson 7 utilizes links to display related data. These links can be added to data or the reports in general.

Lesson 8: Key Performance Indicators and Scorecards
Lesson 8 illustrates useful business analysis features, KPIs, that allow the report user to instantly see how the business is doing as compared to previously defined goals. Scorecards are introduced to display these metrics in reports.



Lesson 9: OBIEE Dashboards
Lesson 9 introduces how to organize various links and analysis reports into organized dashboards for better presentation of the business topics. This lesson also covers useful tips and techniques for laying out the dashboard visuals.



Lesson 10: Additional Dashboard Features
Lesson 10 illustrates quite a number of additional formatting and display features for dashboards. This lesson also incorporates the dashboard prompts previously illustrated as well as features and permissions for the dashboard content. This lesson concludes with using these techniques to build user-enhancable dashboards.



Lesson 11: Actionable Intelligence

Lesson 11 coversone of the key benefits of using a product like OBIEE, the fact that it can monitor then report upon specific data situations. This lesson goes into detail in setting up the monitoring agents and actually issuing an alert.



Lesson 12: Oracle BI Publisher

Lesson 12 starts with a review of Oracle's BI Publisher that comes with the OBIEE environment. The lesson then covers the components required for BI reports and builds a report based off of an analysis report. This lesson concludes with some useful techniques for formatting BI Publisher reports.
