The book was romantic with a bit of suspense thrown in. Not in the aspect that you don’t know who is causing the trouble, but because you don’t know the lengths he will go to in order to eliminate the competition.
I loved the way the characters were perfect and yet flawed. The conflict between Lindsey and Eric created just the right amount of tension and was very realistically done. The pull Eric had towards Lindsey and his desire to win her heart was countered by his desire to please his father and win back his respect causing a great deal of tension. I thought the author also did a great job of bringing the city to life. Not just in describing the huge buildings, but by describing the businesses and the people there in a way that made it personal.
Here are a few favorite quotes:
But his smile made her think of a kid, bounding down the stairs on the morning of the first snowfall, his hair sticking out at odd angles.
