I read the first book in this series and had a few reservations about it but I didn’t want one book to prejudice me against the author and the series. I really wanted to like this book. I love the premise of sword-wielding, wolf-shifting warriors who live hundreds of years, searching for the chosen one in order to protect her great power from falling into the wrong hands.

Jager’s Mate is pretty much the same story as Roan’s Fall. The wolf shifter senses his mate, pursues her, fights the enemy for her, the heroine comes to terms with what he is, they mate and it’s over. The dialog was predictable and a little hokey at times. I found myself skipping parts of the story because I’ve already read it in the previous book.

What I do like about these stories are the characters. I find myself wanting to know more about them and their histories. I enjoy reading about their easy camaraderie, the way they banter and joke around and most of all, how they would lay their lives down for each other.

As I stated in the previous review, the author has a great idea for the story. However, by breaking the story up into smaller books it is taking away from the overall integrity of it. If the plot was more detailed and all the smaller stories combined, this would be a great read.
