The Wolf Whisperer is the fourteenth book in the Wayne County Wolves series by Stephan Hecht. While this book is part the series, it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel with ease.
Cree is a Wolf Whisperer. He brings back wolves who have gone feral. He leads a lonely life always bringing back the wolves that have gone feral and then being asked to leave as soon as he is done. He leads a very nomadic lifestyle and its one not by choice.
Burt is the feral wolf who can understand Cree and he tries to help him. Burt connects to Cree in ways he did not expect too. I would have liked to know more about Burt than we did. The story seemed more about Cree than Burt.
The connection between Cree and Burt is intense. However, Cree’s expectation that he will not be allowed to stay pushes Cree not to even want to start anything. I found this book well written with a realistic plot. The main characters and the secondary characters were hypnotic. While the ending was a little predictable, I enjoyed the journey watching Burt and Cree come together. I had a hard time putting this book down. Overall, this was a very captivating book and I hope to see these characters again in the future.
