So. This book was, to me, a mess.
I couldn't quite understand the sequence of events and the character's reactions. Sometimes, it felt like I was reading a different conversation than what the author thought she was writing. Maybe it's just me.
I became extra skeptic when Hawke just kissed her in front of a colleague to stop her from a "tantrum" and that was okay? Now your colleague definitely thinks you're sleeping with the guy.
And can we stop for a minute and discuss the ridiculousness of a ROCK STAR cover-story?? First, it's way too much trouble. Second, now it's not just the bad guys you have to convince of your cover-story, but the ENTIRE world as anyone with an internet connection will start cyber stalking you. Third, being a rockstar is a lot of work. It's demanding. You have to have interviews, recording sessions and tours and unlike what this book tries to tell you, you can't just make these tours fit with your job as a SEAL. It's just such a stretch that this could possibly work and I don't believe it.
Aaaand all the sexual lust between them from the first second was (to me) a bit off-putting. He gets you drenched, she makes you hard. Gotcha. Now let's stop bringing this up.
At Chapter Seven I decided to skim the chapters to see if it felt like the rest of the book would be worth it, and when I saw it didn't really... decided to just let this one go.
Hey, not all of them can be wins.
