Shadow of Doubt features Jeremy Malone and Michelle Alger. These two first met six years ago under traumatic circumstances. Members of the Colombian cartel kidnapped and tortured Michelle and Jeremy, an active Green Beret at the time, rescued her. The events of the kidnapping leading up to the rescue would change both their lives.
Fast-forward six years later, Michelle is in witness protection and Jeremy is a private military contractor with the Delta Squad, a covert arm of the Sweet Briar Group (SBG). They haven't seen each since that fateful day six years ago. All that would change when Michelle became a suspect in the murder of a senator's son. In her attempts to evade law enforcement and clear her her name, she called upon the one person who promised to come to her aid if she should ever need help.
Romantic suspense is my catnip, and so I am always on the lookout for stories in the genre. I had a great time getting to know the members of the Delta Squad. This team of men and women are like one big family and like any family while they may have their disagreements, they supported each other through thick and thin.
Shadow of Doubt provided a mix of suspense, action and romance. The main focus was on the suspense and action, with the romance served on the side. The action and suspense kept me glued to the pages. Now, while there were no surprising outcomes, seeing how it all played out made for an enjoyable, nail-biting read. I was glad to see the villains get their just deserts.
As much as I enjoyed the story. I had issues with the romance. The hero and heroine shared an instant connection when they met for the first time six years ago. Bear in mind, this meeting took place when the hero rescued the heroine from the Colombian cartel. They didn't spend much time in each other's company then, and for six years they had no communication with each other. However, during that time, they never stopped thinking about each other. After six years of no communication, the connection was stronger than ever. Sorry! I don't buy it.
Overall, Shadow of Doubt was a good book. Readers who love military style, special ops romantic suspense, should consider picking up a copy of Shadow of Doubt.This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading
