T.M. Frazier is a master of betrayal...I mean, she writes betrayal really well. Is it bad that whenever I'm reading one of her stories, that I don't trust anyone? The character acting nice now could be the character ready to slit your throat in the next minute. I side-eye EVERYONE!! There's this slight evilness in all of the characters I meet. Most of them have seen the hard side of life and their evilness is more of a kill or be killed, thing. I don't start a T.M. Frazier expecting them to come good or change their evil ways. I do expect to step out of my comfort zone and wear a constant sneer, allowing my bad arse persona to sneak through. I can be a bad arse...sorta...kinda...
Generally, I can be a bit timid when it comes to my reads. I don't like having my heart ripped out and stomped on. I'm not looking for a dark read or a read that shows the nasty and evil side of life.
I'm more about the hearts and flowers, ain't love grand kind of reader. But, I always make an exception for T.M. Frazier. Well, nearly always, I'm still too scared to read the Preppy series. I will...soon...ish. There's just something about the way she can make the hardest of criminals, seemingly evilest of characters, and the dirges of society, into loving and sweet heroes. I lie, most of them it would be a S...T...R...E...T...C...H to call them sweet.
In Perversion we are again treated to a dark and gritty tale of betrayal, injustice and perversion. I ended this first instalment gutted and emotionally wrung out. There was a sliver of hope that it wasn't going to end in a bad way, but in true Frazier fashion, with a blink of the eye, my hope was gone.
4 stars instead of 5 because my proofreading eye was twitching quite a few times.
I will definitely be going on RIGHT NOW!! I NEED to know what will happen next.
