Who?
Julia, the head of HR at Wright Construction, who is running from something in her past.
Austin, the wayward Wright brother best known for his aversion to relationships and his partying ways.
What?
Julia and Austin previously had a fling. It was six weeks they had never forgotten, but Austin had ended it and broke Julia's heart. Now Austin wants to "date", but Julia has reservations due to Austin's issues with alcohol and women from his past.
Why?
I really loved the story portion of this book. I love second chance romances, and Austin's attempt to commit coupled with Julia's attempts to support Austin and show him that she believed in him, when he really didn't believe in himself tugged at all the right heartstrings, however I found myself fast forwarding through some of the sex scenes as certain things are just not my thing. This did not run the book for me though, because I thought Julia and Austin were a great couple. Both had some serious baggage, and the hardest part of this story for me, was waiting for them to get their personal issues resolved in order to be able to be with each other. Austin really gave his all this time around, and I loved watching the way he tried to show his love to Julia. The best part came later, while they were working on themselves. It was then, that their love really grew, and it was a beautiful thing to watch. Hold on to your heart, because something major and BIG happens. It cracked my heart in half, but it definitely was a catalyst of sorts and moved the story in a good direction.
As with all well written companions, we get to check in with past couples, and get peeks at who might be next. I feel like Linde has been building something between Morgan and Patrick for a few books now, but I also thought I notice another foreshadowing for another coupling. I may be wrong, but if I am right, it will be interesting, and I suspect, super emotional.
Overall: Another great Wright book, where a broken hero and a broken heroine take us on an emotional journey on a rocky road to their HEA.
