I really enjoyed this story. Having met Bo in UNDECLARED, he seemed laid back and easy going, so I was pleasantly surprised at the depth he had as a character. We saw his loyalty and commitment, not only following childhood best friend into the Marines but then to the Woodlands to attend college, but we discovered there were many complex layers to Bo. He struggled with the after effects of having an alcoholic, abusive father...including his own hair trigger, which makes it virtually impossible to follow his best friend into the UFC. But when he meets AM West, he finds the soothing balm to the issues that generally push him to the edge.
AM had her own set of traumatic experiences. After having horrible rumors spread about her by a member of the college lacrosse team, AM refuses to socialize with anyone on campus other than her best friend and roommate. AM puts up a good front and pretends like the hurtful things said about her don't matter, but each time someone flings a hateful word at her, your heart breaks for her. But with Bo, she find someone who wants to be with her, despite what everyone else says. He stands up for her and proves that she worth having as a friend and worthy of being loved by those that deserve to earn her love in return.
I really enjoy this series. Jen Fredricks has created a cast of characters that are funny, snarky with the perfect mix of emotional issues. I can't wait for more from the Woodland gang.
