I just wanted more…
***3.5 Stars***
…and I know I’ll be getting that one day hopefully in the future. See, that’s the beauty of a series. The only problem is that I don’t know what I’ll be getting. Will it be a continuation of this story? Will it be a new couple and we’ll hopefully get snippets of what’s going on in the life of this couple? We didn’t even get to see the couple together that long. I didn’t feel the connection enough to believe they were destined for each other. I’m told they’re fated mates, but I needed to see it. To be honest, I felt more of a connection between the heroine and the Alpha of the pack she lives in. I just felt that the ending was too quick, too cut and dry, too easy. The author could have taken it so much further, but just left us with a paragraph explaining what should have been the climatic and epic battle. The bonding…joining…forming…mating…whatever you want to call it was over and done with so quickly that it was a blink and you’ll miss it. I just wanted more.
I know that all sounds a bit harsh but I like my paranormal to be intense with strong emotions - uncontrollable need, reaction and urgency. I like my vampires to be possessive and lash out when their heroine is in jeopardy. I want to see the battles between the vampires and the werewolves. I want to see them lose their minds when they’re not getting their way. I want to see them lose control and unleash their beasts when their emotions are too high. I just wanted more.
Now, it’s not all doom and gloom. I actually liked all of the characters I met. I want them all to find their true mates and happy ever afters. Matt, Dani and the other werewolves have the potential to give us some good laughs mixed with some very sexy shenanigans. I’m dying to see the vampire Kristoff having to limit himself to one-on-one action in the bedroom. Will Armand’s mate be intrigued with the taboo of getting it on with an ex-priest? I really want to know more about Karthik, the demon lord. Is he as vicious as they say? The author has created some very, very interesting characters.
In the end, I liked the storyline and the characters but felt that it could have been so much more. If Abbie Zanders was to dig a little deeper, pull out the guts of her characters and serve them up to me warts and all, I definitely want to go on with the series.
