The Forum's work during 1997 focused on the limits which individuals, companies and governments are encountering in handling complexity. In this report, these issues are examined in the context of the main areas of concern: achieving social balance, business renewal and effective government. The report highlights the need to improve decision-making structures, at both an individual and an organizational level. The future offers unprecendented opportunties, amid immense uncertainty. Organizations, institutions and individuals will have to learn how to develop appropriate skills in order to cope with an increasingly complex and multi-layered environment. Success will, increasingly, depend on new ways of organizing ourselves.
