whisperingchapters
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Boys who stand girls up for prom should end up with a beer gut, a large hairy mole on their face, and a distinct body odor that no deodorant could eradicate. It was only fair.
I had been wanting a light and fun novel to read. I got that along with full on laugh out loud moments from beginning to end! First, I fell hard for the cover. I mean, it is such an eye-catcher! And then Cristina from @cristiinareads sold me when she would share screenshots of some hilarious moments of the story and I knew I had to jump in.
There were no chairs light enough for me to throw at Jacob. Also I was pretty sure that, like poisoning someone, throwing chairs was illegal in Canada.
Dani and Jacob were childhood friends until they weren't. Years later, Jacob is back home and Dani can't help all that rush of feelings coming back at the sight of him. At the same time, she isn't sure if she should trust him. Jacob came back to run his parents flower shop, which Dani's parents think it is to take over Dani's family flower shop. But Dani sees he's really just trying to save his family.
I had to either turn around and face Jacob or stare at the wall until we both died. I decided on the latter choice. I refused to look at him.
I loved Dani from the get-go. She's so beyond outspoken! It's like she doesn't have a filter at all, which I adore so much. It makes for some funny scenes. And being inside her mind is unbelievably funny. Her thoughts are some of the randomest, funniest thoughts you'll ever come across. I love how light and free she is, with so much energy! Her friendship/relationship with Jacob is so sweet! Jacob becomes such an alpha male once he has Dani and that was amazing to see. I also like how he truly changes for her and makes up for the mistake he had committed in the past (I aw'ed so hard at this particular scene!). The connection between these two characters is unreal. It's like they never had gotten separated and had always been together.
I totally panicked, and I started running. Another thing I never do: run. Running is terrible. It was invented by Satan and pushed by people who hated themselves.
Overall, I'm keeping Iris in my eyesight. I need more of her writing. I cannot wait until more books come out featuring some of the characters in this novel because I just know they will be amazing. If you're in need of something funny to make you forget real life and have your own comedy show in your hands, I highly recommend Petal Plucker! I'm eagerly anticipating the next installment, which is on Dani's younger sister, Kate!
