The story was loads of fun. The interactions with the characters were both fun and solemn. Every moment felt real. I found myself invested in the lives of the characters. I feared for them in the face of danger and cheered them on in the heat of the battle. It was a pleasure spending time with these awesome characters, at least the good ones. My favourites are Olivia, Ryker, (main characters), Jane, Stevie and Marco (secondary characters). The evil ones were ok, but thank goodness, this is a fantasy, as I for one would not want to encounter those things in reality.
The attraction between the main characters leapt from the pages. The sexual tension was so thick not even a knife could penetrate it. There was so much going on Olivia and Ryker could not find time to give into the attraction. In addition, the baggage between these two proved to the biggest dampener.
The action was off the charts. The fight scenes kept me on the edge of my seat, and every moment leading up to those segments were so nerve-wracking.
I found myself immersed in the unique world the author created. Readers are introduced to a world where the King of Death and the Queen of Life were actual people and were attracted to each other. Also in this world Faes dwell among humans, not because they want to, but because their world had been destroyed by the Death Hounds and those who survived the wrath of the hounds managed to escape to earth, where they made a new life. This new life, however, was not without its challenges as they had to be on their guard at all times. they never knew when death will come for them. The death hounds were determined to destroy every living Fae.
Conclusion / Recommendation
This is an exciting start to the series, and I am eager to see what’s next in store for Ryker and Olivia. If you love fast paced and action packed stories with awesome characters, then I recommend you get a copy of Unearthed.
