This is an edition of one of the greatest nonsense poems in the English language which has been printed using the original engraved wood blocks for the illustrations. The illustrations were commissioned by Carroll from Henry Holiday, well known for his work as a painter and designer of stained glass. His drawings were transferred on to wood blocks and then engraved. The blocks were retained as masters from which electrotype plates were made: it was these plates which were then used for printing editions of the book. This is a leather bound edition which in addition to the illustrations in the text, contains an extra set of prints.
