A blast from the past leads Avery, the leader of an undercover CIA team, to travel to Southeast Asia without the aid of his team. After his wife's death fourteen years ago Avery has led a bachelor's life and focused his energy on being an effective team leader for A-Tac. His comfortable existence is blown away when a picture of his wife and his former partner surfaced from last year he immediately decides to investige the validity of the picture. His partner on the adventure is Sydney, an undercover CIA agent who is stationed in the area.

Although the chemistry is there between Avery and Sydney from the beginning their relationship is complicated by the fact that there is a mystery surrounding his wife's death. Avery presented himself as a tough as nails operative trying to wade his way through the blurred lines that exist between his personal and professional life. Sydney is a take no prisoners CIA agent who has to learn how to work with a partner, especially one she is falling for. There journey to find the answers leads to new discoveries while neatly wrapping up Dee Davis' A-Tac series.
